American Persimmon, Diospyros virginiana Improved Seedlings
These native American Persimmon (Diospyros virginiana) trees bear sweet, delicious fruit. The Latin name for this plant means “Fruit of the Gods”. When unripe, the fruit is not appetizing (of course!), but when harvested at the correct time (in early fall, right after the tree drops them and they are very soft) they are delicious raw, in jams and jellies, in pudding, baked in bread, dehydrated, or in a number of other ways.
